PE 4023 Fundamentals and Applications of Geothermal Engineering


(3 hours)
Basics of geothermal systems, exploration and assessment of geothermal resources, and utilization of geothermal energy.  Types and
classification of geothermal systems (Hydrothermal, EGS/HDR).  Thermodynamics, flow and transport mechanisms in  geothermal systems.  Drilling, testing, production, reservoir  engineering and modeling concepts.  Direct and indirect usages.  Geothermal power (flash versus binary) systems.  Prerequisites: ES 3053 , MATH 3073 .
