SOC 3063 Sociology of Education
(3 hours) HCGD
History of education in the U.S.; nature and purposes of education; laws and policies affecting education; reproduction of and challenges to social inequalities in education; curricular issues; contemporary controversies. Particular attention to the ways that race, class, and gender shape the schooling that different groups of students receive. Prerequisite: an introductory course in social sciences or permission of instructor. Same as WS 3063 .
