This online master’s program is strategically constructed to encapsulate 18 Foundational credit hours, 9 Specialty credit hours and 3 Disseminating credit hours via the climactic Capstone course. This program is rigorous by nature as it addresses the current/critical need of strong Nurse Leaders which has been identified by healthcare stakeholders. This need will be met by offering the 3 P’s critical to nurse leaders as identified by ACEN the accrediting body: Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Health Promotion into the degree plan proposal.
The Master of Science in Nursing includes four Specialization Tracks:
- Leadership and Innovation
- Education and Elevation
- Public Health Global Vision
- Informatics and Analytics

Learning Outcomes
On completion of the Master of Science in Nursing degree program, the graduate will be able to:

Demonstrate the use of scholarly inquiry to evaluate current knowledge from nursing theory, nursing science and related disciplines to inform and/or initiate change in nursing practice.

Apply ethical decision making to nursing practice.

Analyze the effect of health policy, finance, technology and the organizational context on the development and implementation of quality nursing practice.

Demonstrate the use of leadership strategies that advance the design, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice.

Analyze the effect of sociopolitical, diversity, and global influences on nursing practice.
Admissions
Prospective graduate students apply for admission through the Graduate School. Applicants submit their application, supporting materials, and an application fee through the Graduate School application system.
Applications for the MSN program are reviewed on a rolling admission process until spaces in each cohort are filled. Applications and all supplemental materials must be submitted before a decision can finalized for admission to the program.
To apply for the MSN Program, applicants must submit the following:
- Copies of all academic transcripts showing undergraduate and graduate coursework.
- Documentation of an unencumbered RN license.
- TOEFL or IELTS scores along with transcripts accompanied by a certified English translation. (International students only)

A bachelor’s degree in nursing (B.S.N.) from an accredited nursing program. An overall G.P.A. of 3.0 is recommended.
All admitted students are required to have or purchase a portable computer/laptop with a keyboard capable of running Microsoft Windows 7, 8, or 10, or macOS 10.1 or newer.
Specialization Track (9 hours)
Leadership and Innovation
The Leadership and Innovation Specialty Track promotes skills and knowledge that nurse leaders can implement immediately, as well as use to plan for and achieve change. Coursework emphasizes the application of theory, using real-world scenarios and innovative tools. Key leadership skills such as effectively communicating across disciplines, budgeting, staffing, and performance measurement are addressed.
Education and Elevation
The Education and Elevation Specialty Track is designed to equip nurse educators by utilizing teaching-and-learning theories and strategy within an academic and clinical practice setting. Coursework includes educational foundations, instructional methods, program assessment and evaluation, and curriculum development.
Public Health Global Vision
The Public Health Global Vision Specialty Track focuses on population health, wellness, public health promotion, and disease prevention. This track is designed to prepare future leaders for community and population health nursing with a focus on local, national, and international nursing.
Informatics and Analytics
The Informatics and Analytics Specialty Track guides the nurse through the process of interpreting, analyzing, and utilizing electronic health record technology, as well as empowering the nurse to be more efficient and effective in healthcare practices. Coursework includes the practice of nursing informatics, management of data and information, healthcare information workflow and project management.
Capstone (3 hours)
The Informatics and Analytics Specialty Track guides the nurse through the process of interpreting, analyzing, and utilizing electronic health record technology, as well as empowering the nurse to be more efficient and effective in healthcare practices.
