PHYS 3043 Statistical and Thermal Physics

(3 hours)

Classical and statistical descriptions of thermodynamics. Essentials of probability and statistics, kinetic theory of gasses, statistical mechanics, temperature, equations of state, heat, internal energy, entropy, reversibility and distribution functions. Prerequisites: PHYS 2083 and MATH 3073 , or permission of instructor.
