GEOL 5723 Geomechanics (3 hours) Introduction to the application of continuum mechanics to geology. Topics covered include stress, strain, buckling, bending, fracturing, isostasy, and heat conduction. Term paper and field trip required. A nominal fee will be charged to cover travel expenses. Prerequisites: GEOL 3063 , GEOL 3061 , MATH 2073 , PHYS 2063 , and permission of instructor.
