BIOL 1051 Plagues and Pestilence Laboratory (1 hours) Block Three Hands-on learning of the relationship between humans and microbial pathogens, including human defense mechanisms. Areas covered include microbiological skills, culture methods, staining, and microscopy; observation of microbes from our environment; study of epidemiology and bioterrorism; and field trips to observe disease detection and treatment, both past and present. Prerequisite or corequisite: BIOL 1053 . Not creditable toward a major in biological science. Once a week for three hours.
