General Education Requirements

The General Education requirements for teacher certification are satisfied by the Tulsa Curriculum.

Area of Specialization/Primary Major (40 hours)

The subject area of specialization requires 40 semester hours as specified in Oklahoma Board of Education Approved Programs in Elementary and Secondary Education, which is maintained by the University’s Teacher Certification Officer. Major course requirements are specified on relevant degree program pages:

• EDUC 4616 Student Teaching in Elementary School
• EDUC 4626 Student Teaching in Middle School
• EDUC 4636 Student Teaching in Senior High School

• EDUC 4971 Seminar in Student Teaching

Note:

K-12 certification requires EDUC 4616 Student Teaching in Elementary School  and either EDUC 4626 Student Teaching in Middle School  or EDUC 4636 Student Teaching in Senior High School .
