Learning Outcomes
Students completing the undergraduate program in management will:
- Exhibit a clear understanding of the underlying dynamics of human behavior in organizations at the individual, group and organizational level through their ability to identify issues and effective solutions to address challenges in organizations.
- Exhibit a clear understanding of the dynamics and process of negotiations through their ability to analyze various negotiation situations.
- Exhibit a clear understanding of strategic management theory and application through their ability to identify, analyze, and solve strategic problems in organizations.

Management Core classes are required for the Management major and all Management specializations. Additional Major Requirements

Management Core Classes (shown above) are a required part of each specialization. Corporate Innovation and Strategy Specialization
Emphasizes strategic decision making and innovation in all types of organizations, including finding and leveraging sources of sustainable competitive advantage through innovative processes and products. Elective
- MGT Elective at the 3000/4000 level
*The Corporate Innovation & Strategy Specialization is the default specialization and will direct a student’s program if a student does not choose one of the other specializations. Entrepreneurship Specialization
Examines the process of creating and capturing value whether in a new or existing enterprise. Topics considered include creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, enterprise creation and development, and entrepreneurial leadership. This specialization is of value to any student interested in understanding what drives change, how change creates opportunities and threats, and how entrepreneurial thinking can help enterprises anticipate and even lead change. Electives
- Two MGT Electives at the 3000/4000 level
Sport Management Specialization
Addresses a need in the sports industry for students trained in modern business practices. This specialization is useful to students who want a deeper understanding of the role that sport plays in commerce. The specialization focuses on the intersection between sport, commerce, and culture. The curriculum includes an introduction to sport management, as well as courses which explore international sport business, revenue generation, legal aspects of sport, and the business of college sport. Students will learn the skills necessary to seek employment with a broad range of sport organizations. Electives
- Two MGT Electives at the 3000/4000 level
Business Law Specialization
Emphasis on issues and practices that reduce the risks of operating in today’s litigious business climate. Electives
- Two MGT or BL Electives at the 3000/4000 level
Management Electives
Courses required for any Management specialization may serve as electives. In addition, the following MGT and BL courses may serve as Management electives General Electives (9 hours)
Only courses from outside of the Collins College of Business may be used for general education electives. Free Electives (3 hours)
Any non-required undergraduate course offered by the institution. Management, B.S.B.A., Additional Requirements
Management majors must complete ENGL 1033 , MATH 1143 , MATH 1243 (or higher level math courses), and ENGL 3003 with a grade of C or higher. Management majors must meet the college’s language requirements . Management majors must complete each of the Business Core courses with a grade of C or higher, except for courses designated Pass/Fail. ECON 2013 and ECON 2023 are required courses in the Business Core. |
