Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the undergraduate program in mathematics or applied mathematics will:

  • Demonstrate mathematical reasoning skills and formal logic to develop convincing mathematical arguments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use computational tools to enhance mathematical thinking and communication.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply algebraic, geometric, calculus, and higher-level concepts to solve mathematical problems.

Tulsa Curriculum and First Year Experience


General Curriculum (18 hours)

Applied Mathematics Core (44 hours)


Notes:


*Students completing the Actuarial option must take STAT 4843 . Students in all other options must take MATH 4503 .

**Students completing the Computer Science option must take CS 1043 . Students in all other options must take CS 2503 .

***Some students will complete a modified series of courses. See Special Requirements .

To become a candidate for a degree in applied mathematics, a student must complete all mathematics courses in the curriculum with a grade point average of at least 2.0, and earn a grade point average of 2.0 or higher overall.
