Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the undergraduate program in studio art will:
- Demonstrate conceptual and technical competency within one or more aspect of the visual arts.
- Exhibit evidence of professionalism by developing a portfolio (of artwork or writing samples), resume and artist statement, locating their own work within historical and contemporary contexts.

- Block I Aesthetic Inquiry and Creative Experience (6 hours)
- Block II Historical and Social Interpretation (12 hours)
- Block III Scientific Investigation (7 hours including one lab)
Studio Art Specialization Requirements (33 hours)
Art Core Courses (12 hours)
Upper Division Electives (21 hours)
Upper Division Studio Art Electives (6 hours)
Two of the following:
Upper Division Art History Electives (6 hours)
- Two courses selected from the 3000- or 4000-level art history (ARTH) courses offered by the School of Art
Art Electives (9 hours)
- Three art courses at the 3000 or 4000 level
Students may take an arts, culture and entertainment management (ACEM) course in place of one art elective.
Minor (12 hours)
Some minors require more than 12 hours.
