The interdisciplinary minor in data science requires 21 credit hours and is designed as a flexible program for students majoring in math, computer science, and other STEM disciplines.

Required Courses (15 hours)

CS 2503 Scientific Programming
DS 3213 Introduction to Data Science or
STAT 3213 Introduction to Data Science
MATH 4123 Linear Algebra and Matrix Theory
STAT 4813 Statistical Methods for Scientists and Engineers
DS 4213 Data Mining

Electives (6 hours)

Two courses chosen from the following or selected QM or other courses with approval of advisor:

BIOL 4643 Bioinformatics or
CS 4643 Bioinformatics
CS 4863 Special Topics
DS 4863 Special Topics in Data Science
BIS 4043 Database Design and Applications
STAT 4843 Mathematical Statistics

Total: 21 hours
