Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the undergraduate program in exercise and sports science program will:
- Demonstrate comprehension of the sciences applied to human function and exercise.
- Demonstrate the ability to appraise behavioral and physiologic outcomes related to musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular human function.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage and critically analyze data relevant to the improvement of health and human performance.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively retrieve, summarize and disseminate written and oral information relevant to the improvement of health and human performance.
- Demonstrate the ability to design and implement strategies, utilizing contemporary techniques, for improving health and human performance.
- Demonstrate the knowledge of professional behaviors necessary to participate as responsible members of their chosen profession and community.

Major courses must be completed with grades of C or higher.

Exercise and Sports Science Major Electives (6-33 hours)
The number of required credit hours of major elective courses varies by area of emphasis. Students who elect the General Emphasis complete 33 hours of major electives. Students who elect the Pre-professional Emphasis complete 13 hours; Pre-Athletic Training Emphasis , 9 hours; and Pre-medicine Emphasis , 6 hours. Major elective courses must be completed with grades of C or higher.
Major electives are selected from the following courses in consultation with an academic advisor:
Exercise and Sports Directed Courses (26-44 hours)
Directed courses satisfy many prerequisites for medical school, professional programs and TU’s Master of Athletic Training (M.A.T.) program. Directed courses will be selected in consultation with an academic advisor and must be completed with grades of C or higher. The number of required directed courses varies depending upon the emphasis selected by the student:
Electives (0-18 hours)
Additional major electives or general electives. The number of required credit hours of elective courses varies by area of emphasis. Students who elect the General Emphasis complete 17-18 hours of electives. Students who elect the Pre-professional Emphasis complete 11-12 hours; Pre-Athletic Training Emphasis, 8-9 hours; and Pre-medicine Emphasis, 0 hours.
Exercise and Sports Science, B.S.E.S.S., Additional Requirements
ATRG 1031 is repeatable for up to three credit hours.
ATRG 4413 is recommended for all exercise and sport science majors.
