Organizational studies is an interdisciplinary major leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. It is designed for students who wish to study organizational behavior and structure in the public and private realms, without limiting themselves to one of the participating disciplines. The objective is to provide students with knowledge and skills which will prepare them for entry level administrative positions in both public and private organizations. A minor is required.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the undergraduate program in organizational studies will:
- Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills by applying managerial problem-solving techniques.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral forms.
- Describe a management organization and evaluate the organizational principles, function, and practices.
- Identify how organizations function in diverse, social, and economic contexts.

- Block I Aesthetic Inquiry and Creative Experience (6 hours)
- Block II Historical and Social Interpretation (12 hours)
- Block III Scientific Investigation (7 hours including one lab)
Organizational Studies Major Requirements (31 hours)
Lower Level Required Courses (9 hours)
Three courses selected from the following:
Required Portfolio Courses (1 hour)
Upper Level Required Courses (12 hours)

Upper Level Electives (9 hours)

Senior Project
Core Curriculum requirement (3 hours). Not counted as part of the major.
Required Minor (12 hours)
Students must, with the advisor’s approval, enroll in at least 12 hours in a minor field. Six of these hours must be at the 3000 level or above. Some minors require more than 12 hours.
General Electives (24-26 hours)
Notes:
Non-business students pursuing a major in organizational studies must have junior standing and complete the following prerequisites with a grade of C or higher before enrolling in MKTG 3003 : ACCT 2113 , ECON 2023 , and QM 2013 .
No more than 15 credits in the major may be taken in courses offered by the Collins College of Business. Students planning to use upper level business electives should choose at least one of the economics courses as a lower level elective.
SP 2113 Public Speaking is recommended to fill a Block I elective requirement.
Paid internships do not count for academic credit.
