French Major Requirements (30 hours)
French majors complete 30 hours. Twenty-seven hours must be at the 3000 and 4000 levels, and at least 15 hours must be at the 4000 level. At least 24 of the 30 hours must be taken in courses taught in French.
Up to six hours, including LANG 4003 Methods of Teaching Languages, may be taken in related courses designated LANG or CPLT, with prior approval of the major advisor. Other appropriate courses may be approved by special permission of the major advisor and department chair.
After adequate preparation of students to an advanced French proficiency, one semester of study abroad is required, but this requirement can be waived for A&S students who demonstrate that it imposes a significant hardship.
