Return to Accelerated Master’s Programs .
This accelerated master’s program is designed so that highly motivated students can begin earning hours towards a Master of Athletic Training (M.A.T.) while completing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science (B.S.E.S.S.). Upon completion of the bachelor’s degree, students previously admitted to the accelerated master’s degree program will matriculate into the master’s degree program if they have maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. in both their undergraduate and graduate work at The University of Tulsa and have met the additional requirements for admission to the graduate portion of their program as specified in their admission letter.
Students apply for entrance into the accelerated master’s degree program at the end of their junior year to start graduate level coursework the first semester of their senior year. Two 5000-level courses in the summer semester and three in the fall semester of the senior year can be double-counted to fulfill requirements towards the B.S.E.S.S. and the M.A.T. degrees. Additional coursework completed during the spring semester of the senior year will be done at the 7000-level and will count towards graduate program requirements only.
All other program specifics are those required for the M.A.T. program .
*Students are not required to apply to the accelerated track to possibly double-count some 5000 level coursework towards future graduate program requirements. The accelerated track allows for early admission to the graduate program and the additional option of taking up to 6 hours 6000 or 7000 level coursework prior to completion of the undergraduate degree. For more information about the general double counting policy, visit Academic Policies.
