Tulsa Curriculum Requirements (53 hours)

Core Curriculum (28 hours)

ENGL 1033 Exposition and Argumentation
MATH 1083 Contemporary Mathematics ( STAT 2013, QM 2013 or a higher MATH course will fulfill requirement)

General Curriculum (25 hours)

Block I Aesthetic Inquiry and Creative Experience (6 hours)
Block II Historical and Social Interpretation (12 hours)
Block III Scientific Investigation (7 hours including one lab)

Notes:

**AS 2001 is required for sophomores.

***Language requirement may vary depending upon placement.

Some students may be required to take ENGL 1004 Introduction to College Writing and MATH 1043 Essentials of Algebra .

Major Requirements (33 hours)

A minimum of 33 credit hours in history courses, excluding history courses taken to meet general curriculum requirements, is required for the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in history. No more than 39 credit hours may be credited toward that degree.

Lower Division Requirements

Three courses at the 2000 level. Of these three courses, three different fields must be represented. Majors are to select three fields from among the following:

Ancient (Mediterranean and Near East, China and Japan, the Americas)
Modern World (China and Japan, the Americas, Piratica)
U.S. (U.S., Native America, U.S. and the World)
Europe and Russia (Medieval and Modern)

Upper Division Requirements

HIST 3903 History Colloquium (This course must be taken immediately after declaring the history major.)
Seven courses at the 3000- and 4000-level. Of these seven courses, at least three different fields must be represented. Students majoring in history select three fields from among the following: Greece and Rome, China and Japan, Europe and Russia, the U.S., the Americas

General Electives (23-26 hours)

Minor (12-15 hours)

Teacher Certification

Students seeking secondary teacher certification in history should consult their academic advisors to determine subject area courses that are appropriate and the Oklahoma State Department of Education regarding alternative certification.
