The University of Tulsa is not accepting applications or matriculating new undergraduate students into the bachelor’s program in Chinese studies beyond the Fall 2019 term. Students who have matriculated into the bachelor’s program may not declare Chinese studies as a major after the Spring 2020 term.
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chinese studies is an interdisciplinary program drawing from the disciplines of political science, history, literature and language, business, and economics to prepare students for a variety of professional careers and academic programs related to China. The Chinese studies program, as a minor or second major in combination with other disciplines such as education, finance, or any of the engineering specialties, will offer TU students the means to enhance their understanding of China globally as well as locally in their discipline.
Program Objectives
Students will
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in Chinese language, literature, philosophy, and media that aid in effective cross-cultural communication.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in additional disciplines (anthropology, economics, history, international business, political science, translation studies, etc.) that deepen cross-cultural comprehension.
- Demonstrate competence and creativity in integrating varied disciplines to explore current issues; demonstrate critical thinking, initiative, and resourcefulness in leading future intellectual exchange.
