Return to the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics

The accelerated master’s degree program allows highly motivated students to begin earning hours towards a Master of Science (M.S.)  in engineering physics while completing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics (B.S.E.P.). The accelerated master’s degree program requires the same level of work as the standard bachelor’s and master’s degrees, but allows up to nine credit hours of 5000-level courses to count towards both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.  When combined with up to six hours of additional graduate level coursework while still completing undergraduate degree requirements, students can potentially reduce the total time to degree completion for the master’s portion by up to one year.

Undergraduate students should apply to the Graduate School for admission to the accelerated master’s program at the end of the sophomore year or the beginning of the junior year. A minimum of 60 hours of undergraduate coursework is required. Because of the rigor and pace of this program, a minimum of a 3.4 undergraduate GPA is required for admission.

Interested students should contact the graduate program advisor for physics and engineering physics.
