The accelerated master’s degree program allows highly motivated students to being earning hours towards a Master of Science (M.S.)  degree in biochemistry while completing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (B.S.B.). The master’s component will be based on the thesis program option of 30 required credit hours. The accelerated master’s program allows up to nine hours of 5000 level undergraduate courses to count towards the master’s degree, reducing the total time to degree completion for the graduate level requirements by up to one year.

The typical undergraduate student will apply to the Graduate School for admission to the accelerated master’s program at the end of the sophomore year or the beginning of the junior year. A minimum of 60 hours of completed undergraduate coursework is required in order to apply for admission. Because of the rigor and pace of this program, a minimum of a 3.4 undergraduate G.P.A. is required for admission. Students interested in the accelerated master’s option should contact the graduate advisor or any faculty member of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry  for more information concerning the program.
