The undergraduate major in Philosophy and Religion is among the humanistic disciplines at the core of the liberal arts. The major encourages a critical approach to religious and philosophical traditions, emphasizing literary, historical, and moral inquiries. Courses expose students to a variety of philosophical and religious traditions and moral practices, and their intersection with applied fields such as technology, medicine, business, and politics. Through this course of study, students develop important skills, including: critical thinking and evaluation, discerning implications and alternatives, and communicating in oral and written form with clarity, precision, insight, and persuasive power.
