Mission

The mission of the graduate program in electrical engineering is to

  • provide a modern, high quality educational experience for our students;
  • provide the knowledge and principles on which electrical engineering is founded in order to graduate engineers who are technically competent, creative, articulate, and socially aware.

Graduate Academic Programs

The graduate faculty of electrical and computer engineering offer courses leading to the Master of Engineering (M.E.)   degree and Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.)  degree in electrical engineering. The program provides advanced preparation in specialized areas of electrical engineering for recent graduates and working engineers who wish to improve their technical capabilities.

With the graduate faculty of computer science, the graduate faculty of electrical and computer engineering also offer joint M.S.E., M.E., and Ph.D. programs in computer engineering which provide opportunities for advanced specialization and scholarly research in computer engineering and related fields. Visit Graduate Programs in Computer Engineering  for information on admission, curricula, and degree requirements for the joint programs in computer engineering.

Program Goals

The graduate program in electrical engineering aims to address the urgent need of industry for individuals that are proficient in transforming electrical engineering concepts and principles into innovative solutions to modern problems in energy/power, communications, robotics, and autonomous systems. The goal is to prepare the student for professional work in electrical engineering at an advanced level than the bachelor’s degree or for further study leading to the Ph.D. degree.

Program Learning Outcomes

Master of Engineering. The M.E. degree program in electrical engineering prepares students to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge required to mathematically analyze, to evaluate, and to design systems with complex interaction between variables as well as electromagnetic field impacts on computers and electrical circuits.

  • Demonstrate skills needed for studying an open-ended problem and be able to manage projects in the field of Electrical Engineering.

Master of Science in Engineering. The M.S.E. degree program in electrical engineering prepares students to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge required to mathematically analyze, to evaluate and to design systems with complex interaction between variables as well as electromagnetic field impacts on computers and electrical circuits.

  • Demonstrate skills needed for studying an open ended problem and be able to manage projects in the field of Electrical Engineering.

  • Acquire and demonstrate technical and communication skills needed for conducting and disseminating independent research in the field of Electrical Engineering.
