The graduate programs of study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering lead to the Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) , Master of Engineering (M.E.) , and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)  degrees.

Learning Objectives

Master of Engineering. The objective of the M.E. degree program is to advance the student’s technical and professional skills.

Master of Science in Engineering. The objectives of the M.S.E. degree program are:

  • To advance the student’s technical and professional skills; and
  • To develop the ability of graduates to conduct research projects.

Doctor of Philosophy. The objectives of the Ph.D. degree program are:

  • To advance the student’s technical and professional skills;
  • To develop the ability of graduates to conduct research projects and to develop independent research skills; and
  • To direct graduate students towards the advancement of the state-of-the-art in their area of research.
