The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is not accepting applications or matriculating new graduate students towards the M.S.E. program beyond the fall 2019 term. The information below is for reference purposes only and does not constitute an intent to consider or admit new students to the M.S.E. degree option beyond the fall 2019 term.
For more information about degree offerings, visit the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering webpage.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers programs leading to the Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) and Master of Engineering (M.E.) degrees in electrical engineering. The M.S.E. program is research-oriented and requires a formal research thesis. The M.E. program is coursework-oriented. The programs provide advanced preparation in specialized areas of electrical engineering for recent graduates and working engineers who wish to improve their technical capabilities.
With the Tandy School of Computer Science , the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a joint Ph.D. program in computer engineering which provides opportunities for advanced specialization and scholarly research in computer engineering and related fields. Visit Graduate Programs in Computer Engineering for information on admission, curricula, and degree requirements for the joint programs in computer engineering.
The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to provide a modern, high quality educational experience for our students. We provide the knowledge and principles on which electrical engineering is founded in order to graduate engineers who are technically competent, creative, articulate, and socially aware.
Learning Objectives
Master of Engineering. The M.E. degree program prepares students to:
- Solve electrical engineering problems with advanced knowledge and principles; and
- Obtain new skills needed for professional development.
Master of Science in Engineering. The M.S.E. degree program prepares students to:
- Solve electrical engineering problems with advanced knowledge and principles;
- Obtain new skills needed for professional development; and
- Conduct research using technical skills and knowledge acquired in the program.
