LAW - 5973-ML Seminar: Bioethics & the Law(3 hours)
This seminar examines intersections between law, medicine, and ethics. Subjects covered are tailored according to students’ interests, but may include such topics as: medical research ethics, corruption in the medical industry, reproduction issues (assisted reproduction, prenatal genetic testing, eugenics), death and dying (assisted suicide, refusing life-sustaining treatment), emerging issues surrounding the uses and misuses of genetic information. Students will write a research paper (which counts toward fulfilling the law school’s writing requirement) on a topic of their choosing, subject to instructor approval.
Prerequisite(s): LAW 5154 Special: Writing, Seminar Certificates: HLC
