LAW - 5972-TA Seminar: Professional Liability - Accountants & Lawyers

(2 hours)

This Seminar will cover a selection of topics relating to professional liability. Topics will focus primarily on accountant liability. Students will write a seminar paper on a topic involving lawyer liability, for which they can use the law of accountant liability as a point of reference and comparison. Topics include but are not limited to: services performed by accountants, theories of Liability, secondary liability, causation, remedies, defenses, limiting liability, choice of Law, discipline. Students will be expected to research and write a seminar paper (meeting the guidelines adopted by the faculty) on an issue that relates to the topic of lawyer liability. Significant research will be required.
