LAW - 5052 Introduction to US Law for Foreign Lawyers For LLMs(2 hours)
The overall objective of this course is to introduce LL.M candidates to the legal system of the United States. This objective can be divided into two parts. The first is to introduce foreign students to the sources and techniques of American law. The second is to introduce students to the organization and substance of American law. Among the topics covered will be the following: historical background; American legal education and the legal profession; the judicial system; case law; the legislative system, statutes, and secondary authority; classification of American law; procedure; private law; and public law.
