LAW - 5772 Elder Law(2 hours)
This course surveys the legal issues raised by the aging population in the United States and the legal implications of that demographic. Topics covered include the ethical issues and complications presented by representing elderly clients, age and disability discrimination in employment and accommodations, income maintenance (i.e. social Security and Supplemental Security Income), health care benefits and coverage (i.e. Medicare and Medicaid), long-term care, guardianships, property management, health care decision making and end of life issues and elder abuse, neglect and crime.
