HON 2243 The Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries (3 hours) Quad Three This course explores modern and postmodern movements, such as individualism, abolitionism, industrialization, the nation state, and totalitarianism, culminating in the yearning to recover more traditional notions of liberty and virtue. Through dramatic, philosophical, theological, literary, and historical works, this course explores the foundational texts and questions of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Restricted to students in the Honors Program.
