Medical Social Sciences is a subfield of anthropology that studies the role of culture and society in illness and healing. An introduction to the social scientific study of health, illness, and medicine, incorporating basic principles of medical anthropology and medical sociology. How are social factors implicated in body function and dysfunction? What is the relationship between poverty and illness, both infectious and chronic? and how can we reform American medical practice to address social and cultural diversity better?
