GEOL 6003 Critical Minerals(3 hours)
This course introduces topics related to economic geology and mining of ore deposits of critical minerals and rare-earth elements. Topics covered include mineral exploration, mineral law and land access, mineral economics, global mineral reserves, metals used in alloys and technology, and case studies of geological ore deposits. These topics will be viewed through the lens of the current global mineral resource crisis and emphasis placed on non-fuel minerals necessary for technology, renewable energy, and national defense.
