ME 7113 Advanced Dynamics

(3 hours)
Kinematics and Kinetics of particles and rigid bodies in 3-dimensional motion. Derivation of the equations of motion using the Newton-Euler approach when the axis of rotation is changing in space. Introduction to analytical mechanics and the Lagrangian method of deriving the equations of motion of particles and rigid bodies. Generalized coordinates, variational methods, and the principle of virtual work. Holonomic and Non-holonomic Pfaffian constraints. Students will complete a teaching practicum as part of the course. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor. (Same as ME 5113).
