ANTH 4273 Archaeology and History of the African Diaspora (3 hours) HCGD Investigating slavery and freedom in the U.S., South America, and Caribbean through African Diaspora archaeology. Exploring food-ways, legal codes, cultural transformation, resistance and marronage, religion and burial grounds, gender roles, healing and disease, and post-emancipation life across the diaspora. Students will also receive hands-on training in archaeological methods. Prerequisite: ANTH 2053 or permission of instructor. Same as HIST 4273 .
