Introduces real property concepts in oil and gas law and proceeds sequentially through the legal characteristics of a severed mineral estate and a severed surface estate, the creation of separate estates and interest in minerals before and independent of oil and gas leasing, the granting of oil and gas leases (fee, state, and federal), and the continuing legal relationship between lessor and lessee under an oil and gas lease.
