ANTH 7173 Evolution of Complex Societies(3 hours) Complex societies evolved in only a few areas of the world, and archaeologists long have been interested in their formation processes. The class takes a historical approach, examining literature on the rise, development, and ruin of complex societies from many different theoretical perspectives. Examples from the Old and New Worlds are used to illustrate one of humanity’s major developments.
