PHIL 2453 The Great Conversation II: Modern and Contemporary


(3 hours) Block 2
An examination of major figures in the break-off of philosophy from theology in the modern era. Consideration of the Reformation background of modern thought, the challenge of scientific rationalism to religion, and the effort to conceive the moral and political foundations of society in wholly secular terms. Required for the philosophy major. Same as REL 2453 .
