Through a collaborative program with the College of Law, selected students at the Collins College of Business can complete their undergraduate degree and a JD in six (6) years.  At the end of their first year in law school and the completion of 125 applicable semester hours, students in the program will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree with a major in Business and Law.

Students in the Collins College of Business are eligible to apply for admission to the 3+3 Accelerated Law Program in the fall of their third year (junior year) at The University of Tulsa. The College of Law Admission Committee may select a maximum of fifteen (15) students per year for the Accelerated Law Program. Admission is highly selective.

Every selected student is eligible to receive the Access to Legal Education Scholarship (ALES).  The ALES is an automatic renewable $18,000 scholarship for every student who earns an undergraduate degree from TU.

Qualified students may receive merit-based scholarship in addition to the ALES.

How do I apply for admission to the 3+3 program?

  • Schedule an appointment with a Collins College of Business advisor during the first year (freshman year).
  • Schedule an appointment with the College of Law’s Office of Admissions at any time during the first four semesters of college to obtain a copy of the Accelerated Law Application and receive counseling on application requirements for the program.
  • Complete and submit the Accelerated Law Application and supporting documents by September 15 but no earlier than August 1 of junior year of college. The Accelerated Law Application must be submitted directly to the College of Law Office of Admissions.  Submission of this completed form will provide authorization for the College of Law to gain access to contents of your undergraduate school student file including your ACT/SAT score and undergraduate transcript.
  • Submit an application for admission to the College of Law (by September 15 but no earlier than August 1 of junior year) which requires at least two letters of recommendation, a copy of your transcript reflecting all coursework completed, and a personal statement. Please note: The Accelerated Law Application will be available in the College of Law Office of Admissions in John Rogers Hall. The College of Law application is available at LSAC.org.  Applicants to the College of Law are required to apply via the LSAC website.  Application fee waivers that enable you to apply for free via the LSAC website are available at https://secureweb.utulsa.edu/law/application/.
  • Take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) by October of junior year or sooner.
  • Register with the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) between August 1 and November 1 of junior year.  Please note: All candidates must arrange for a copy of their TU undergraduate transcript to be sent to LSAC so that it may be incorporated into the CAS report.

What is required for admission to the 3+3 program?

  • A 3.2 undergraduate cumulative grade point average at the time of review
  • Comportment in a manner consistent with the expectations of the legal profession
  • Achievement of an LSAT score which is equal to, or greater than, the law school’s 25th percentile LSAT score of the most recent entering class in the College of Law
  • Thorough completion of application forms and submission of all supporting documentation in a timely manner
  • Mandatory completion of an interview with the College of Law within one month of application

What additional factors will determine admission to the 3+3 program?

An applicant should demonstrate the potential to be a successful law student through their level of achievement in a rigorous curriculum.  Applicants should have clear goals and be motivated to progress at an accelerated pace.

When will I know if I am accepted?

Applicants to the Accelerated Law Program will receive a decision by December 1 of their junior year.

If accepted, what conditions will be placed on me before I can enroll in the College of Law?

  • The accepted candidate must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 at conclusion of undergraduate coursework and prior to matriculation in the College of Law.
  • The accepted candidate must maintain comportment in a manner consistent with the expectations of the legal profession and remain in good standing with The University of Tulsa.
  • At the conclusion of spring semester of junior year of college, the accepted candidate must arrange for one copy of the final transcript reflecting cumulative GPA to be sent to the Law School Admissions Council so that it may appear in the completed version of the CAS report.  Additionally, the candidate must arrange for a second “official” copy of the undergraduate transcript reflecting all academic coursework to be sent to the College of Law’s Office of Admissions.
  • During spring of junior year admitted candidates will be required to attend an open house at the College of Law designed to help them prepare for legal study and acclimate to the law school environment.

NOTE:  Failure to comply with any of the above requirements and conditions will result in the revocation of admission to the accelerated law program.
