Presidential Leaders Fellowship

The Presidential Leaders Fellowship (PLF) is a year-long program which prepares students to maximize their TU experience through opportunities such as the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge, faculty-assisted research, global education internships, True Blue Neighbors volunteer services, Neuro-Corps and more. Students accepted to the program will be required to complete various assignments and programs relating to the goals developed by TU President Gerard Clancy and expert faculty. PLF comprises the following elements:

Eligibility for PLF

Open to incoming freshman (and transfer sophomore) students. Grade-point-average and test scores are not considered during the selection process.

PLF Application Requirements

  • Submit a completed application for admission to The University of Tulsa by Jan. 15.
  • Submit the online Special Programs Application, with short essays, by Jan. 15.*
  • Visit campus by March 1.*

*Presidential Scholarship applicants will be automatically considered for the Presidential Leaders Fellowship and do not have to submit a separate application beyond what is required for Presidential Scholarship application.

College Philanthropy Initiative

Additionally, Fellows are eligible to apply for the College Philanthropy Initiative (CPI), an additional year in which a smaller cohort of students implements a social enterprise. The business model for this enterprise will have been designed by Fellows during the Presidential Leaders Fellowship experience. CPI comprises the following elements:

Eligibility for CPI

Open to upperclassmen students who have successfully completed PLF 1711  and PLF 1721 . Grade-point-average and test scores are not considered during the selection process.

CPI Application Requirements

  • Submit the completed CPI application online.

PLF Program Outcomes

  • Prepare a cadre of TU graduates who are skilled in creating a just, humane and creative world.
  • Guide first-year students to a fulfilling experience at TU, and in doing so, prepare them to be successful leaders in complex environments.
  • Facilitate students in their transformation from leadership to philanthropy, with the ability to give of themselves and their talents.
  • Aid students in developing specific skills, including the ability to: understand complex societal issues through the lenses of history, politics and economics; take leadership in devising and executing solutions to aforementioned issues; compellingly communicate the solutions; work collaboratively and proactively in a team; and identify a personal purpose to guide ongoing personal, professional, and philanthropic development.
