Return to All Programs Return to: All Programs

The minor in African American studies provides students with the opportunity to complement any major with foundation in the history, literature, and culture of Africans and African Americans. The minor consists of twelve hours, at least six of which must be taken at the 3000 level or above.

Independent study courses and other courses not listed above must be approved for credit toward the minor by the program director prior to enrollment.

Freshman and senior seminars on African American subjects, internships in the African American community, and study abroad programs may be taken for credit toward the minor with approval of the program director and the advisory board prior to enrollment.
